Weekend in McCall

FIRE HYDRANT AT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
I THINK THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A CHILLED BEVERAGE IN THE BACK SEAT!

IF YOU LOOK REAL CLOSE YOU CAN SEE THE BEAR IS TRYING TO CATCH FISH!

LINDSI AND ERIKA

LINDSI AND ERIKA POSING WITH VEGITABLES IN FRONT OF THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT! TOO CUTE

Every January McCall, ID has a winter festival and all of the local businesses make these incredible ice sculptures. The sculptures are left up for a couple of weeks for everyone to enjoy, we went up and took Erika (Garets girlfriend) and Lindsi with us. We walked all over town enjoying the sculptures and wondering how in the world did they do that? We also visited a little craft fair and got some yummy home made fudge and fresh popped kettle corn.

Wow time for an UPDATE

Grafitti by Garrets apartment
More Grafitti

And some more. Garret says it is amazing to watch the people that paint these pictures, all they use is spray paint. He says that the pictures are always changing.

Garret and a family He is teaching in the Bronx

Garret and his Companion Elder Iro

We finally got a few pictures from Garret. He is currently serving in the Bronx, He says that he is truely enjoying his mission and loves the people he is teaching. Garrets Companion is Elder Iro He has been on his mission for a little over a year and is from Tahiti.

Garret tells us that he has never worked so hard but that he loves every minute of it, he says that the people are very humble and very generous. The city is noise and the subway is very entertaining. We are so thankful for our Missionary and feel blessed more each day.

Unexpected picture!!

Terry and I were pleasantly surprised to receive this picture via email from Sister Morrison who along with her husband is serving in Garrets mission. Terry has written back and forth a couple of times with Sis Morrison and she tells us that Garret is doing well and working hard.

I am going to post Garrets address so if anyone would like to drop him a line I am sure that he would love to hear from you.

New York New York North Mission

It's official our missionary is in New York City!

Garret was able to call us at 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning. It was so good to talk to him! It is amazing how much someone can grow in just three weeks . Garret said that he loved the MTC and that he learned so much, he said he is excited to teach the gospel.

We were able to talk for about 20 minutes and then he told me that he loved me but that he needed to get going because he and Elder Adams wanted to go and talk to people and see if they could give away some Book of Mormons. He was so excited and pumped up. Needless to say We are extremely proud of our missionary!

We are planning a family trip to New York when Garret has completed his mission. Look at all of those people and all of that traffic. It will be a huge change for our small town boy! Garret says he is up for the challenge.

BIRD HUNTER

Terry and Izzy (Garrets Dog)

Terry the Bird Hunter!!

One of Terrys favorite things to do when he was growing up in Genola, UT was to go Pheasant hunting. Every year Terry, his brothers and his Dad would get together and shoot their limit of birds and then talk about the ones that got away. We moved away from Genola in 1994 and Terry hasn't had the opportunity to go Pheasant hunting since. We recently built a house and it sits in the middle of about 20 acres. On Thanksgiving morning we were sitting at the breakfast table and looked out back and there were two rooster Pheasants. Terry ran upstairs and grabbed his shotgun, went out the back door and BAM! Yep he got his bird! Yay Terry!!

IT'S OFFICIAL! HE'S A MISSIONARY NOW!

Mom and Garret! Mom is trying hard not to cry!

Proud Papa! and Elder Kerby

To say the least it has been a very emotional week! We took Garret to the MTC on Nov. 19th. Nothing and I mean nothing prepares you as a parent for the time you tell your missionary goodbye and you depart out one door and they another and you know that you will not be seeing them again for two years. Garret was so excited and ready to get started, I know that saying goodbye was much harder for Terry and I than it was for Garret.

I received an extremely short letter from Garret the Saturday after we dropped him off, basically it said "The feeling here is so awesome! I know I am where I should be and doing what I need to be doing." Then he asked for us "to send slippers please, the floors are very cold." It was great to hear from him and even better is the fact that he is happy and enjoying the spirit.

At this time of year we reflect on what we are thankful for! I realize that I have so very much to be thankful for! I have the best husband in the world. He is a great example for all of us. I don't know anyone who works as hard as he does. We have been blessed with three wonderful children all of whom have made us extremely proud! Our daughters have both married Awesome men who honor their Priesthood, who are hard working and people that we can all look up to. Our Son has chosen to serve a mission and is someone who is a great friend to all who know him. We are blessed with having the gospel in our lives and having the opportunity to serve those around us. We hope all of our friends and family had a great Thanksgiving! And we wish you all a joyous holiday season!!

Garret and Erika

Here is Garret and his girlfriend Erika. I think that Garret is going to have a harder time leaving Erika than he is leaving his family for two years. We were glad to have Erika along for our family pictures! She is a great girl and we all like her very much!
